I thought it would be nice to share a nice and delicious recipe with you guys, one for tzatziki! This Greek ‘sauce’ goes great with anything really but especially with some spicy meat, or just some toasted bread. I just made some myself to go with some oven fries, spinach and some gyros.

What do you need?

  • 1/2 lemon
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • 2 parts of garlic
  • dill
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 500 grams of thick (preferably greek) yoghurt
  • olive oil

Start by putting the yoghurt in a bowl and adding some pepper and salt, don’t be afraid to put a serious amount of pepper but just put a tea spoon of salt, not more. Then, start cutting up the cucumber in as big or tiny pieces as you like, I prefer the pieces smaller but you can use any size you like. After that, take the 2 parts of garlic and slice them up as tiny as you can, you can also use a garlic presser if you have one.

When you sliced all that is necessary you can add a table spoon of olive oil to the yoghurt, a table spoon of dill and the lemon juice of a 1/2 lemon. You can use the ‘ready to go’ lemon juice but there is a lot of sugar inside so I prefer the actual real lemon juice, it’s better and healthier.

Last but not least, add the cucumber and garlic to the mixture and mix everything together. Leave it in the fridge for about 2 – 3 hours and you have a delicious tzatziki to go with whatever you want.

It’s easy, cheap, healthy and fast and adds something extra to any dish 🙂 I hope you will enjoy it!!
