TOAST E.D. is a fabulous restaurant and wine bar on the ever expanding and buzzing Lordship Lane in East Dulwhich, London.  This bistro is the place to be for its very inspiring and inventive menu and their out-of-the-ordinary drinks selection.  The menu, of which cators for brunch, lunch and dinner (and even afternoon cake!) changes daily and each item on the menu is made with the best seasonal ingredients available that just simply melt in your mouth!  Adding to this, Toast grinds up some of the best coffee in town (to go with their devishily deliscious cakes!) and also (of which adds to their 5 stars from me…. and then some!) are a local independent wine retailer with a diverse & ever-changing selection of organic, natural wines, spirits and locally brewed beers.  Oh TOAST E.D. you are the local hero!!!

With the beautiful wooden floor boards and exposed brick walls that are laced with over 200 bottles of wine on simple wooden shelves, this is one cosy dining experience.  There is a second room off the main dining that holds 4, 300 litre tanks filled with wine directly sourced from Piedmont Italy, the Loire Valley France and Côte Roannaise France.  And the fabulous thing about this is that you can buy a reusable glass bottle for next to nothing, fill it up with your fav wine, drink it to your hearts content and then come back for a refil!  Joy!!!

So for brunch, lunch, dinner, a sneaky cake or even a wine tasting evening (held regularly), this is one place not to miss out on!  As I am a lover of the brunch lifestyle, Toast is becoming almost my Sunday church.  On the latest menu I had the Smoked Salmon, avacado and horseradish on toast, and as the plates are “small”  (to encourage people to eat across the menu….and that I DID NOT have a problem with !! 🙂 ) I also ordered the beetroot, lincolnshire poacher and pickled Scottish girolles.  Absolutely delicious! And although we are supposed to “curb the carbs” nowadays, do not miss out on their bread!  Let it go for a day and eat on as it truly is devouring!

The Smoked Salmon, Avocado and horseradish on toast was my favourite dish and so much so that I could barely breathe as I devoured it, forking that food so fast I could probably call it exercise!

And on top of all of the fabulousness, one of the managers lives right across the road from me…. now I will definitly toast to that!!!
